The Shepherd

$295

True Temper made millions of axes and most of them were forgotten in barn corners. This Michigan pattern Dayton was one of them — surface rust, loose handle, good bones. The head cleaned up with hours of wire wheel and sandpaper work, revealing clean steel with no pitting. The Michigan pattern is a classic all-purpose felling design, balanced and efficient. The curved hickory handle is 36 inches with a good swell, fitted and wedged. This is the quintessential working American axe.
